The end of the 2019 eventing season has come around and unfortunately Brook's big hope and ambition for the year - getting to compete in her first international has not been realised.
Brook Howells rediscovers the fun of eventing and prepares to compete at her first international competition in over 10 years!
We started the eventing season with a novice run at Lincoln. This is the first time I’ve ever deliberately started a season at novice and I did briefly wonder at the wisdom of trekking halfway across the country when I could have had a 100 run much closer to home.
I am learning everyday to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be inspire me and not terrify me. So I’m going to stop being scared that I might not be a good enough rider and focus on making sure I become a good enough rider.
We’ve had a fantastic summer with Corey, so to some extent there was no pressure for the rest of the season. Except that I wanted to do a little bit more eventing for myself before the winter set in.
They always say that horses are great at keeping you grounded, and Corey has given us a worrisome few weeks to make sure we don’t get too complacent.

The early season preparation has been achieved with relatively few hiccups or breaks despite some inclement weather, and between Mum and Nicki Corey is looking and feeling fantastic.
2018 is certainly going to be a great adventure, and hopefully a really enjoyable one. I am slightly apprehensive about the prospect of looking after two small children, let alone trying to event with them, but I am confident that Team Supercobs will make it work!
Well, when I last updated you all, I was riding high on the elation of sailing round Skipton novice clear and remembering to focus on the overall enjoyment rather than the score.
I felt really confident that we could show everyone just why I was going novice on Corey at Brand Hall. After last year, I was determined to set a new trend.
